Ben Puttmann is an American singer, songwriter, and recording artist. Based out of Iowa, Ben plays live shows across the Midwest with a mixed musical style of country and rock. His writing spans from sing-along bar songs to thought-provoking ballads. Ben began releasing music in 2022, gained international success with Tyler Dale collaboration "Abilene" and his biggest single to date, "Overdrink About It" continues to gain popularity across the United States.

When did you start making music?
I started writing music in 2019 as I learned to play acoustic guitar. I started playing live shows in 2021, continued songwriting, and began recording music in 2022. Since then I've released four singles including "Overdrink About It" and am preparing to release my fifth, "Midnight Fire"!

Who are your biggest musical influences?
My biggest musical influences are first, Creedence Clearwater Revival and second, Merle Haggard. Having that mix of influences has resulted in a rock and country sound that comes out in my recordings and my live shows.

How would you describe your music to someone who's never heard you?
I strive to write and record upbeat sing along songs that you'd enjoy hearing in a bar or thought provoking ballads where you can hang on every word. My rock and country influence provides a perfect mix of music that everyone can enjoy.

Tell us about your collaboration with Tyler Dale "Abilene".
This was a song I wrote that I knew I had to record but being from the perspective of two different guys, I knew I'd need someone else to sing the second part. I'd never met Tyler in person but we'd talked over text and I followed what he was doing with his band, the Johnny Buffalo Band, and the solo videos he posted to his social media account. His vocals are so powerful that I knew I had to have him. I reached out and he agreed right away. It took a few months to get him to the studio from a few hours away but we made it happen and he crushed it. The song has since become an international hit and I get reports from listeners from all over the world every week!

Do you have any hidden talents or hobbies?
I'm a dad and husband first, a musician, and I also have a woodworking business. I have dedicated shop space and build custom furniture.

What is your ultimate goal with your music?
My ultimate goal in music is to sell my music. I love songwriting and hope to do it forever but would love to sell one of my songs to another artist. Meanwhile, I'm having a blast playing live acoustic shows and recording in between.
