This free resource offers an immersive journey with all the music, essays, archival photographs, videos, and detailed track notes. Educators will also find valuable resources from the museum’s archive, enhancing the educational potential of this initiative.
Celebrating with a Concert Event
In a fitting tribute to Black Music Month, *From Where I Stand: The Concert Celebration* will take place on Tuesday, June 18, at the museum’s CMA Theater. Sponsored by Amazon and Riverview Foundation, this event will showcase a stellar lineup of artists featured in the project. Co-producers Rissi Palmer and Shannon Sanders will lead the concert, featuring performances by Blanco Brown, Cowboy Troy, Tony Jackson, Hubby Jenkins, Miko Marks, Wendy Moten, Darius Rucker, The War And Treaty, and Barrence Whitfield. This concert, free to attend, will be recorded and made available on the museum’s website on Thursday, September 12.
Artistic and Historical Presentation
The presentation of *From Where I Stand* is enriched with traditional quilt designs from the women of the Gee’s Bend community in Alabama. Visual artist and designer David Jon Walker has provided type treatments that complement these historical designs. Each musical era is matched with a quilt from the same period, offering a visual representation of the cultural and artistic context.
Supporting Education Through Music
The expanded CD box set is now available for purchase through the museum’s website and retail store. Proceeds from the sales will support the museum’s nonprofit educational programs, ensuring that the legacy of Black contributions to country music continues to inspire and educate future generations.
