Synapse Publishing & Entertainment, LLC has officially completed production on its documentary TV pilot, “Women Behind the Lyrics – Country Edition,” a project designed to spotlight the creative journeys of independent female singer-songwriters.
The pilot is part of a broader initiative spearheaded by Executive Producer Darice G, CEO of Synapse Publishing & Entertainment, LLC and Synapse Spotlight Productions, LLC. First conceptualized in 2017, the series aims to highlight the backstory, struggles, and triumphs of women navigating the music industry’s longstanding gender barriers.
The Country Edition features four accomplished artists: Wendy Moten, a Memphis Hall of Famer and The Voice finalist; Nashville singer-songwriter Judy Paster; multi-talented songwriter, producer, and podcaster Sarah Harralson; and Delaney Ann, an eighth-generation Texan artist who began performing professionally at age nine and is now preparing the release of her first full album.
Directed by Dante Nazzaro with cinematography by Alan Lessig, the pilot also benefited from notable mentors and sponsors, including Penny Gilley, Bonnie Baker, Dale Penner, Nancy Puetz, Marc Baron, Sennheiser Audio, Enterprise Nashville, Strings for Hope, and Gilded Girls.
The participating artists’ songs are currently receiving radio play across Music Row and independent stations nationwide. The group was also honored with the Artist of the Year award at the 51st CMA of Texas Awards.
With filming complete, Synapse Publishing is now seeking strategic partners and investors to support editing and post-production, with the goal of bringing the project to streaming platforms. Long-term plans include developing four full seasons, each spotlighting groups of women from additional genres such as blues, rock, and rap.
